UMKC ARTS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP SHOW CASE

In November,  2015,  Jan Fellers participated in and won first place for the UMKC World Wide Gifting Award.  The contest consisted on developing a gift to be awarded to  international visitors, speakers, educators, etc. during  the 2016 year.  The project needed to be $25 or less to reproduce, fit in a suitcase or carry on when returning to their country, and represent Kansas City, Missouri.

The winning gift was of Jan's original oil painting of the Country Club Plaza.  She proposed that her oil be reduced to a 3"X4" giclee, and placed in a small frame.  UMKC will be utilizing this gift during 2016.  The five judges were impressed with the concept of using an original oil painting of a local landmark to create their gift for foreign visitors.  The fact it would be a "permanent gift of fine art" was appealing to the juidges.  Eight finalists presented their concept to Scott Wagner, Kansas City Councilman, CJ Wei, Executive Director of US Midwest China Chamber of Commerce, Nancy Hill, Director of Edgar Snow Memorial Foundation, Corwyn Strout, IDSA/CMG Founder?Chief Brand Architect Hinge Design.  Paul Mackender, and Members of the Enact Arts and Entrepreneurship Team coordinated the contest.
